The History of Monymusk and the knights!
We are a family-oriented group, based in Arbroath, Scotland who portray a medieval company formed to defend a casket known as the Monymusk reliquary. This is why we are known as Knights of Monymusk.

The Monymusk reliquary was significant because it was said to have contained a bone, or bones of St Columba, the most popular saint in Mediaeval Scotland. Also known as the "Breacbannoch of St. Columba". It is said to have been carried by Sir Henry De Monymusk at the Battle of Bannockburn. Legend has it that it had been given to Henry prior to the battle by King Robert I (The Bruce)'s chancellor Bernard, the Abbot of Arbroath, to be kept in perpituity by his kinsman and decendents. It stayed at
Forglen until the sixteenth century, when both Forglen and Monymusk came into the hands of the Forbes family. In 1712 it was transferred to Sir Francis Grant of Cullen. It stayed in the Grant collection until 1933, when it was aquired by the people. It is now in the care of the Museum of Scotland, where it is arguably themost important piece in the Museum's entire collection, although many people believe the reliquary's true home is Arbroath.
